I grew up in a household where my mother was a strong Christian and my dad said he “graduated” from church. Dad said the preacher asked him all the questions in the Bible and he got them right…so he graduated. It wasn’t until later that I realized that wasn’t how it works. Luckily, I was surrounded by Christians and it was just natural that I would accept Christ in 2nd grade.

I grew up in my Christian bubble which was great. I went to Vacation Bible School, participated in youth group and then College and Career. It was little by little that I would come to realize that not everybody had a wonderful Christ bubble to grow up in. I was able to build a relationship with Christ and other Christians and learn the Bible to prepare myself for the real world which is self-centered and not Christ-centered.

No life is perfect. I still had dreams that were unmet, hurts that take time to heal and losses that I still feel today. I had my ups and downs in life but was able to navigate it with Christ by my side. I met the Christian man I would marry and had a beautiful son. All in all, I am very appreciative of my upbringing and how blessed I was to always have Christ lead the way.

If you were wondering, my dad finally accepted Christ.
