Can I really know if I am going to Heaven?

How can I know? The Bible states this emphatic truth found in 1 John 5:13 which says, “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.”
God wants you to know the reason He gave us the Bible is so we can know how to have a relationship with Him through Jesus Christ. That relationship with Jesus Christ is our assurance of going to Heaven.

The world today offers so much uncertainty. In the United States, senior adults are left wondering about the sufficiency of their retirement portfolios or Social Security checks. College graduates are burdened with the thought of immense student loans and no jobs. Teens and young children are constantly bombarded with the pressures of thinking they need to be pop-culture superstar in order to have value. In other countries, people are concerned whether or not they will eat their next meal or live to see another day because of the threats of terrorism or deadly diseases that are plaguing their nations. For most people in the world, the concerns may not be life threatening, but eat away every day at their peace and contentment and energy for life.
This one question is one every person can have the answer to with absolute certainty. Can you really know if you are going to Heaven? How you answer that question determines where you spend eternity and how you will live out the rest of your life. Will your life be full of peace, joy and contentment because you know the end result? Or will you be left wondering, hoping, thinking, each day, maybe if I am a good enough person I might get to Heaven? The real question is, do you want to play with eternity? Each of us can recall people whose life ended unexpectedly. We never know when our time will be up. Jesus tells us you can know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
Now for those reading this who sense in their spirit the truth of these words, you can know today by placing your hope and trust in Jesus Christ you will be saved, and YES, you will spend eternity in Heaven. For those who make that decision, it is a burden lifter and will rid you of so much unnecessary anxiety and uncertainty the rest of your life.
